BOMBANANA! ships with 14 puzzle modules: 11 defusal modules plus 3 CHAOS modules, confirmed for the v1.0.0 launch build. Each defusal module on a bomb must be solved before the countdown ends; a CHAOS module cannot be solved — it can only be kept under control for the whole round. This guide walks through every module, its official name, its difficulty tier, and the traps that blow teams up.
One rule before anything else: solution tables in community guides are snapshots from specific bombs. Module rule sets can vary between bombs, so the in-game defusal manual held by the Mute monkey is the single authority for every solution.
Module List at a Glance
Defusal modules come in three difficulty tiers — Easy, Medium, and Hard. Chaos modules (Pressure, Slider, Alarm) are each rated Medium but can never be completed.
| Tier | Modules |
|---|---|
| Easy | Cable, Calculator, Direction, Color Slider |
| Medium | Soundboard, Symbol, Piano |
| Hard | Monkey-Says, Morse, Maze, Switch |
| CHAOS (Medium) | Pressure, Slider, Alarm |
Every module has its own dedicated page on this wiki — see the sidebar under "Modules". The quick summary below covers each one.
Easy Modules
- Cable — three or four colored cables and an indicator light. The light's color plus the number of connected cables decides which cable to cut. Count cables, not slots. Full guide: cable (wires) module.
- Calculator — an arithmetic expression plus a braille number keypad. A two-stage puzzle: type the answer, then the light activates and the manual's odd/even × light-color table gives the second number. Full guide: calculator (math) module.
- Direction — a braille number and four directional buttons. After every input the light color changes, so the new state must be called out fresh. Full guide: direction module.
- Color Slider — four colored sliders that must be pushed fully to their end position, up or down according to color. A wrong move resets the module's progress. Full guide: color slider module.
Medium Modules
- Soundboard — a set of buttons where you press until you find the one that makes a sound; then, using the Braille number on that button and its color, press the positions marked in the manual's table. Full guide: soundboard module.
- Symbol — a rotating pointer. Rotate it to find the symbol that makes a sound, then press the correct colored button based on the current stage and that symbol. Near-identical symbols come in pairs, so the Deaf must describe the distinguishing detail. Full guide: symbol module.
- Piano — keys engraved with braille notes. Play the notes in sequence based on the octave number written in Braille and the color of the active light. Full guide: piano module.
Hard Modules
- Monkey-Says — like a memory/Simon game: press the button matching the heated-button color shown in the table for the current stage, then repeat all prior buttons in order each stage. Full guide: monkey-says module.
- Morse — a displayed socket plays Morse code; decode the numbers it represents and press ENTER. Full guide: morse module.
- Maze — use the maze number written in Braille to move the red dot to the point with the green light. Full guide: maze module.
- Switch — toggle switches on/off according to the left-to-right sequence of colored lights and the Braille number beneath them, then lock in with ENTER. Never lock in while any switch is unresolved. Full guide: switch module.
CHAOS Modules (×3) — Manage, Not Solve
CHAOS modules cannot be solved — they can only be managed. The official tutorial text is unambiguous: a CHAOS module must be kept in a safe state for the entire defusal, or the bomb explodes no matter how well everything else went. Each is a constant drain on one player's hands and attention:
- Pressure — a pressure needle that rises continuously; keep lowering it by repeatedly pressing the center button. Full guide: pressure module.
- Slider — a slider that continuously rises; keep pulling it back down until the bomb is defused. Full guide: slider module.
- Alarm — after the alarm activates, press every heated button within 10 seconds, and keep doing so until the bomb is defused. Full guide: alarm module.
Plan the module order so one player can babysit every CHAOS module while the relay handles the standard ones — the Blind monkey usually has the free hands between inputs.
Module Order Strategy
With the full list in mind, experienced teams generally:
- Identify every module and name the hardest one (Switch panels, Monkey-Says, Maze) before touching anything.
- Assign each CHAOS module to whoever is babysitting — usually the Blind, between inputs.
- Knock out fast Easy lookup modules (Cable, Direction, Color Slider) early to bank strikes.
- Save multi-input modules (Calculator, Monkey-Says, Soundboard) for when the callout rhythm is warm.
Where Each Module Appears
For a full breakdown of which fixed modules and random slots sit on each of the 30 campaign levels, see the campaign level database. Three of them are pure lookups — Wires, Math and Direction — and the solver turns their tables into a picker.
Every module deep-dive on this wiki repeats the same disclaimer for a reason: strategies reflect the launch version (September 2026), patches may change rules, and the Mute's in-game manual is always the final authority.
