The Alarm module is the most time-reactive of the three CHAOS modules in BOMBANANA!. It cannot be solved — like Pressure and Slider, it has no done-state, but unlike them it demands a rapid, coordinated burst on every trigger. Its official rule: "After the alarm activates, press every heated button within 10 seconds. Continue until the bomb is defused."
How the Alarm Works
- The alarm activates at some point during the round (often early).
- When it does, the module's buttons heat up — the team's job is to press every heated button.
- You have 10 seconds once the alarm is live. Miss a heated button and the alarm punishes the team (a strike or worse).
- It keeps happening. Each trigger must be answered until the bomb is defused.
The 10-Second Emergency Protocol
Alarm turns an otherwise orderly relay into a panic — which is exactly why the protocol has to be rehearsed:
- Call the alarm. The first person to see it shouts "Alarm!" so the whole table stops.
- Split the buttons. The Deaf names the heated buttons; the Blind presses them fast. If the row is wide, agree in advance who covers which side.
- Prioritize. Alarm beats every non-urgent defusal for those 10 seconds. Pause the slow lookup modules and clear the alarm first.
- Resume calmly. After the buzzer, confirm no other module got abandoned mid-move, then pick the relay back up.
Babysitter vs. Burst
Unlike Pressure and Slider, Alarm does not need a constant hand — it needs a burst on demand. So it pairs well with a team that keeps a fast player near the buttons, rather than one glued player. The trade-off is that missing the trigger window entirely is fatal, so the team's alarm-watch is the real babysitter.
Alarm first appears as a fixed CHAOS slot at Level 10, and late levels carry two Alarm entries (Levels 29–30) — see the campaign level database. Its CHAOS siblings are Pressure and Slider. For every module at a glance, start with the modules overview.
