BOMBANANA! Monkey-Says Module: Repeat and Grow

The Monkey-Says module is a Hard-tier memory-and-sequence puzzle, and the most Simon-like module in the game. Its official rule: "Press the button corresponding to the heated button color shown in the table. For each subsequent stage, repeat the previous buttons in order, then press the button corresponding to the current stage." Every stage grows the sequence by one — a mental stack that the whole team must hold together.

How Monkey-Says Works

1. Read the color. The Deaf reads the heated button color for the current stage.
2. Look up. The Mute finds which button corresponds to that color in the manual's table.
3. Repeat, then add. The Blind presses the button for the current stage after repeating every button pressed in the prior stages, in exact order.

Stage 1: press button A. Stage 2: press A, then B. Stage 3: press A, B, then C. The sequence only grows.

Where Teams Lose It

• Sequence memory is the bottleneck. By stage four or five, no single monkey reliably remembers the whole chain. The team must track the sequence as a shared artifact, not a private hunch.
• Reading back errors. The fastest way to die is a wrong "repeat" that silently corrupts the growing sequence. Confirm each repeated element before moving on.
• Order is sacred. A correct set of buttons in the wrong order is still a strike. Read the history left to right every time.

A Shared Sequence Protocol

Because the chain grows, the best tables use an explicit record:

1. The Mute announces each confirmed press as it lands: "one: red. two: red blue. three: red blue green."
2. Before the current stage, the Blind reads back the full prior history; the Mute confirms before the new button is added.
3. Treat the growing sequence like a count — one player owns the sequence length, another owns the color names, so the memory is split instead of lost.
